However, productivity is low, with milk production far below global averages. Nepal imports around NPR 2 billion (US$ 17 million) in dairy products annually due to poor genetics, inadequate feeding, limited healthcare, and technology access. Additionally, the agricultural extension system struggles with poor information flow and an undertrained workforce. This project aims to boost dairy productivity and quality by providing farmers with decision-support tools, improving fodder access, and offering price incentives for high-quality milk.
